The marine twin-screw pump is designed for smooth and stable transfer of various clean media without solid particles. It can convey both low-viscosity and high-viscosity liquids, depending on the selected structure, speed, and material configuration.
The pump transfers liquid with low agitation and low pulsation. Because the pump body structure helps retain pumped liquid inside the working elements as sealing liquid, the pump provides strong self-priming capability and can handle gas-liquid mixed transfer in supported operating conditions.
The marine twin-screw pump is designed with high suction performance and a low NPSHr requirement. It uses independently lubricated external bearings, allowing it to convey various non-lubricating media. The timing gear drive keeps the rotating parts from contacting each other, and short-term dry running for 1–2 minutes is supported according to the source material.
Multiple structural forms are available, including horizontal, vertical, and heating-jacket configurations. With proper material selection, the pump can handle many clean media, including some corrosive liquids, as long as they do not contain solid particles.
Features & Advantages
- Smooth Liquid Transfer: Delivers media steadily with low agitation and low pulsation.
- Strong Self-Priming Ability: Pump structure helps maintain sealing liquid inside the working chamber.
- Gas-Liquid Mixed Transfer: Suitable for supported gas-liquid mixed conveying conditions.
- Low NPSHr Design: Special suction design supports strong inlet performance.
- External Bearing Structure: Independently lubricated external bearings allow transfer of non-lubricating media.
- Non-Contacting Rotors: Timing gears prevent rotating parts from contacting each other during operation.
Typical Applications
The marine twin-screw pump is widely used in marine systems, power plants, chemical processing, refineries, food processing, and oilfield applications.
Common applications include:
- Shipbuilding: Loading pumps, stripping pumps, main engine lubricating oil pumps, fuel oil transfer pumps, fuel injection pumps, and cargo oil pumps.
- Thermal Power Plants: Heavy oil transfer, crude oil transfer, and heavy fuel oil pumping.
- Chemical Processing: Transfer of acid, alkali, salt solutions, resin, pigment, ink, paint, glycerin, and paraffin.
- Refineries: Transfer of heated oil, asphalt oil, tar, emulsion, asphalt, and oil loading or unloading for tankers, oil pools, and tank trucks.
