The KCB Series Stainless Steel Gear Pump is a precision-engineered external gear pump specifically developed for applications where fluid purity, hygiene, or mild corrosion resistance are critical requirements. While the standard cast iron KCB pump serves conventional industrial oil transfer, the stainless steel variant is the correct choice when the process fluid cannot tolerate iron contamination, or when the operating environment demands elevated hygiene or chemical compatibility standards. It handles clean, particle-free fluids with lubricating properties at viscosities from 5 to 1500 cSt and temperatures up to 80°C (high-temperature configurations available up to 120°C). Typical applications include vegetable oil and edible oil transfer in food processing, resin and adhesive handling in chemical manufacturing, pharmaceutical auxiliary fluid supply, and mild chemical solvent circulation where stainless steel material compatibility is required.
The pump operates on the proven external gear meshing principle. A matched pair of precision gears—one driving, one driven—divide the casing into a suction chamber and a discharge chamber. As the gears rotate and teeth disengage on the suction side, a local vacuum draws fluid into the tooth valleys. The fluid is carried around the pump housing and discharged at high pressure as the teeth re-engage on the outlet side, producing a continuous, smooth, and pulsation-low flow.
Features & Advantages
The KCB Series Stainless Steel Gear Pump is constructed from a pump casing, front and rear covers, precision-machined stainless steel gear pair, drive and driven shafts, replaceable sleeve bearings, a safety valve, and shaft end seals. All wetted components in contact with the process fluid are manufactured from stainless steel, eliminating any risk of iron contamination and providing resistance to mild chemical attack. (Note: This pump relies on the process fluid for internal bearing lubrication. Only fluids with sufficient lubricating properties—viscosity ≥ 5 cSt—are suitable. Non-lubricating aqueous solutions, pure water, or strongly corrosive media are not compatible.) The standard shaft rotation is clockwise when viewed from the external (drive) end of the main shaft.
- Food-Grade & Pharmaceutical Applications: The all-stainless wetted path makes this pump directly suitable for edible vegetable oils, food ingredients, pharmaceutical excipients, and other hygiene-sensitive fluids where zero metal contamination is mandatory.
- Mild Chemical & Resin Transfer: Suitable for resins, adhesives, mild organic solvents, and other moderately corrosive process fluids that would degrade or contaminate cast iron or carbon steel pump components.
- Precision-Machined Stainless Steel Gears: Unlike standard carbon steel gears which rely on heat treatment for hardness, the stainless steel gears in this series are precision-machined to tight tolerances, delivering smooth, low-noise operation and reliable long-term performance in their intended corrosion-resistant duty.
- Built-in Overload Protection: An integrated safety valve automatically opens at 1.5 times the rated discharge pressure, protecting both the pump and the downstream system from pressure surges. The valve can be adjusted within the allowable pressure range. (Note: This valve is an emergency protection device only and must not be used as a long-term pressure-reducing valve.)
- Stable, Low-Maintenance Operation: All internal components are self-lubricated by the process fluid. The compact and straightforward design minimizes maintenance requirements and allows for rapid inspection and servicing.
